Rampwick Hospital
For the criminally insane
Rampwick Hospital is situated on a remote part of the Yorkshire moors above Blubberhouses and despite the slightly 'worn' appearance of the West Wing, offers a combination of modern and sometimes unique therapies as well as some good old tried and trusted techniques for the stabilisation and where necessary, subjugation of our inmates.
Rampwick is unique amongst institutions of this kind in that we see it as essential that our inmates experience as many unusual stimuli as possible during their stay. To this end we have for instance, taken a group of some of our more stable patients to events such as the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Further outings are planned to major boxing venues and hopefully some of the major football venues where we feel sure they will feel well integrated. Outings such as these have been made possible by the kind refurbishment of an old Bedford camper van by the Royston Vasey WRI. Nicknamed 'Ron' by the inmates , the van allows selected inmates the chance to see the outside world for a few days under the strict supervision of the medical director H. Crippen MBSS.
Rampwick is also unique in that we keep in touch with former patients both on a voluntary basis and where necessary by means of implanted GPS (Global Positioning System) tags. Our mobile High- Voltage and Depo-Chemical unit is always ready to ensure that treatments are available when requested by patients, medical staff or police.
